Клайпеда (Мемель) — незамерзающий порт в Литве на восточном побережье Балтийского моря, основан в 1252 году как крепость. 24 июня 1757 года во время Семилетней войны 1756—1763 годов крепость, принадлежащая в то время Пруссии, после обстрела кораблями Балтийского флота и атаки с суши сдалась и была присоединена к России, в 1762 году возвращена Прусскому королевству.
